Black Copper Stingray Clone, 18mm Version $29.99

The Black Copper Stingray clone is popping up all over the place. There are a handful of suppliers all offering very similar clones, but I decided to give this one a shot for myself. There’s a couple reasons why I picked the one I did in particular. The main reason would be that I am a budget vaper and the price was right for me. This is a supplier with a “US warehouse” that claims to ship in as soon as 2 business days. Lastly this version appears to be a very close clone and has the specs I was looking for.

Maybe the drip tip is included?

I’m going out on a limb here, but I think they will include the drip tip with this one. I have over 50 drip tips already, but why stop collecting now. The tubes are copper, as they should be. The 510 pin appears to be silver plated copper. The switch should be magnetic, but there are no clear images of the button’s insides. I have seen some other listings say they had a spring, but I am skeptical of those being produced. The Stingray button is the most distinguished feature of the mod. There are two mounted magnets that very effectively provide resistance for the switch. Some of the Stingray clones sold so far have been reported as having wobbly or weak switches. Even one of the brass ones I ordered before would stick until I polished the inner brass ring. Hopefully this is a good one, or I will be swapping with the button from my brass version.

I really like the solid tube design of this version. The Stingray usually has its beautifully seamless extension tubes, but I would take a solid tube over extensions any day. All things considered I think this might be the winner for a low price Copper Stingray clone.

The Nemi Clone Preorder $40

It seems like everything releases in preorders now. Here is easily the best 14500 mod clone to date. The Nemesis or Nemi is the most popular mod of the past year and there’s plenty of reasons why. Personally I own 3 Nemesis clones and I can’t bring myself to sell any of them. They are as reliable as mods get. They come in a great variety of styles, and all of them perform excellent.

Slimming down for the summer

The details on this clone are pretty non-existent so far. The original Nemi featured a solid tube for a 14500 battery and an extension for a 14650. This mod is a slender 17mm in diameter, which would pair up nicely with a Kayfun mini (2.1) or a Taifun GS. This has all the great features of the original, like the iconic switch, which I assume ships with a spring. The adjustable 510 pin in the Nemesis works perfect with any atomizer and allows for a nice flush mount. This version comes in the very popular brushed stainless mixed design or in a brushed copper mixed option, both look great. I’m sure this is just the first place to offer this mod, and soon we’ll be drowning in Nemi clones.

The Big Nasty Clone Preorder $34.99

Again with the 26650 mods. Here is The Big Nasty mod with its tasteful design and tough stainless steel exterior. Lately there has been a shortage of the originals of mods and the cloners are pumping out their renditions to fulfill the gaps in supply. This is not the first Big Nasty clone to hit the market, but it is the closest to a 1:1 replica that I’ve seen.

Probably the nicest 26650 clone to date

Probably my favorite feature of this mod is what is hidden below the switch. This version has a recessed firing button that lies within the frame of the button. This design is to prevent accidentally firing the mod by storing it upright. The button in this version is supposed to be a spring unlike the original’s magnets. I really like the way the top cap tapers down to 23mm. It might look a little weird with a 28mm atomizer, but so far everything I own is 21-23mm which would fit nicely here. All the contacts are copper and they are adjustable. This looks like a winner to me.

Preorder: The 4Nine by Tarsius…Clone! $46.99

I’ll say it again, those ruthless cloners are getting faster. One of the most innovative mechs we’ve seen this year has just had its clone announced. The 4Nine by Tarsius is the next original to fall victim. The original can be difficult, but not impossible to find in stock at $170, this clone is hitting the market at 1/3 the price. With such a minimalistic mod, I sure hope it includes all the parts.

This is still an early stage preorder. I wasn’t expecting to see this for at least a couple more months. I predict this release might be big enough to topple the Stingray clone from the top of wish lists when it becomes available. I hope it extends in variety to have all the options available that can now be found for the Nemesis and the Stingray clones.

I have a soft spot for seamless extension tubes.

In case you are not familiar with this mod, it is the most compact mod to date. This is made possible by the innovative “top cap.” The top cap is hardly a 510 connector. It is a threaded disc that will allow the 510 connector of the atomizer to pass right through to the battery. This means this mod heavily favors atomizers with adjustable 510 pins. Having less connections means less voltage drop, or at least it should. I also love recessed buttons, but hate big size. This mod has you covered there as well with a grooved tube that has a neat magnetic switch tucked inside. That means there is no worry about mod wobble, or firing while upright, and smooth reliable button action. I am pumped to see how this mod does.

Black Stingray 26650 Preorder $35.23 Shipped

I can’t say enough about this mod. The clone has swept across retailers and very quickly climbed in popularity to become the hottest mod available. Right now there is a craze for 26650 mods and all kinds of colored atomizers to complete the ideal vape. There have been other clone 26650 mods available for at a few weeks now, but none as sleek and feature filled as the Stingray.

I already got myself 2 of the brass version of the Stingray clone, and have to struggle to find any complaints. My single complaint about my mods is not even a very valid point. The brass was not “Phantom Brass” like the original… I think. No one really knows what that is anyways. This model avoids that issue all together with a black media blasted finish that won’t turn your hands blue when the brass develops patina.

The features of this bottom firing mod is what really makes it so popular. The contacts are all silver plated to provide a minimal voltage drop. The design of the battery ventilation in the trim is second to none. The floating 510 connector is nearly fail proof and has performed excellent for my atomizers. I would like readers to note there are multiple versions of this mod coming to the market, all arriving around the end of April. This one has the lowest price yet. The features tend to vary between all the models. This one is listed as having a spring loaded switch, which would be the first of the Stingray clones I’ve seen to do so.

Edit: I’ve read other Black Stingray Clones have been shipped with springs instead of the magnetic switch, I can only suspect this might follow suit.

Hopefully the specs are mistaken, because the magnetic switch really ties this mod together. I also have not seen another black Stingray clone to put the logo on a stainless steel button, so I hope the vendor clarifies this listing, not all the pictures are of the same mod.

They got the logo on the button and maybe a SS version is on the way.

MMvapors Presents The Nanos Preorder Starting 4/1/14

One of my favorite manufacturers has been doing some covert work lately and a new mod will be revealed on April fools day. This might make me a bit skeptic, but I’ve got a feeling that this will be a legit mod and I am anxiously awaiting details. I got some photos that I was able to scrounge up, but so far I haven’t found anything more than a place holder on the MMVapors site and no indication of the price at all.

This mod has a bottom button similar to most tube mods

MMvapors is famous for the Poldiac, which in my opinion is the finest side button mod on the market.

A few details can be derived from this photo

We can see this mod has a low profile bottom button, and strangely there is a spring on the 510 connector. They might be onto something new here. Also we can see that the mod offers a polished or brushed tubing that comes in small sections, as large as the typical kick tube. There are also larger sections that are in the rear of the photo to allow a single solid tube. The contacts appear to be brass, but I am just speculating here.

Assembled in alternating finishes. I’d assume there is a hybrid option for the MMVapors atomizers.

I will actively be seeking out more details about this mod, but it will be unveiled, and open for preorder starting 4-1-14. Considering how good the Poldiac is, this has potential to be a big release.

More Stingrays Clones! Copper Stingray Clone Preorder $44.99

All the options and variety that are offered for the Nemesis clones are now being applied to the Stingray clones. The black copper Stingray clone has been seen for a few weeks now, but the next step is the standard glossy copper finish. I’m really enjoying my Stingray clones and I’m a big fan of all the options becoming available. Now you can choose what mod you want then choose what style you want it in. Only a few months ago the only two options were stainless or brass, but now mods are coming in stainless steel, brass, and copper, or in this case, all three.

Some of the brightest copper I’ve seen, almost looks brass to me.

As I’ve said before this mod has a design that is really forcing other mods to incorporate its features to stay competitive. Expansion tubes used to mean there would be noticeable seams running horizontally across the tubes, but times are changing. These seamless designs are being seen in many new mods and they really look great. Magnetic switches are also becoming commonplace in mods, and the Stingray has an excellent way of mounting the magnets into the button so they will not break on a drop. All of the Stringray clones I’ve seen so far use a super fine .5mm thread for the tubes which allows the aqua atomizer to mount in a hybrid configuration. I wouldn’t be surprised if we started to see hybrid converter kits like the Nemesis has rolling out for the Stingray as well, since it is quickly becoming a fan favorite.

The “Female” 4Nine Mechanical Mod $185

The 4Nine was a big hit when it recently hit the market. Most vendors sold out the preorder overnight leaving vapers scanning all the retailers to try and get their hands on one. A unique design and nicely integrated features made the 4Nine a smash hit, and now there is a brass version for the gold lovers out there like myself.

A nice material swap on the original.

Just about everything is the same between the brass version and the original stainless steel 4Nine, awesome. Where size is a factor and buzz words like “Hybrid” are tossed around, Tarsius put a new twist on the way we look at top caps. This top cap is more like a plate rather than a full fledged cap. This mod saves valuable pocket space by turning your atomizer’s 510 pin into the battery contact. Sure this might be a problem with some atomizers and some battery combinations, but I think its a great step forward for mechanical mods. I wouldn’t be surprised to see more mods with this style top cap popping up in the next few months.

Looks simple when you break it down

The brass version of this mod will cost you roughly $15 more than the steel counterpart. For that you get all the same great features. There is a magnetic switch, that is nicely ventilated and properly insulated. The tubes have a seamless design which makes the extensions almost unnoticeable. Besides that it looks great.

More Stingray Clones! 26650 Version Checking In $44 Shipped

I wish I had some good photos of this mod, but I think we can all imagine what it looks like. I would imagine a fatter version of the other Stingray mod clones. The description for this one says that it is black copper, but I see no black on any pictures I could find, this leads me to believe that a stainless steel version is in the near future as well. I didn’t originally post this mod because the ordering window was so narrow, but it has been extended for another day, and maybe more.

There are a couple things about this photo that I don’t like. The obvious is the lack of a black Stingray, but there are a few noticeable inconsistencies besides that. The first thing that struck me was the scale Stingray on the left, it has an all stainless steel top cap. The tubing on the Stingray on the left has a very noticeable seam as well. I am under the impression that the 26650 Stingray prototype is still being developed, because the 26650 version has a noticeable gap below the top cap. This mod is known as the TurboGrafix16 edition so it does have some nice 90’s nostalgia built in. That is the little I could find about this mod so far, hopefully more details roll around, because I know lots of vapers out there are looking for a more tasteful 26650 than the Hades.
