Again with the 26650 mods. Here is The Big Nasty mod with its tasteful design and tough stainless steel exterior. Lately there has been a shortage of the originals of mods and the cloners are pumping out their renditions to fulfill the gaps in supply. This is not the first Big Nasty clone to hit the market, but it is the closest to a 1:1 replica that I’ve seen.
Probably the nicest 26650 clone to date
Probably my favorite feature of this mod is what is hidden below the switch. This version has a recessed firing button that lies within the frame of the button. This design is to prevent accidentally firing the mod by storing it upright. The button in this version is supposed to be a spring unlike the original’s magnets. I really like the way the top cap tapers down to 23mm. It might look a little weird with a 28mm atomizer, but so far everything I own is 21-23mm which would fit nicely here. All the contacts are copper and they are adjustable. This looks like a winner to me.
I’ll say it again, those ruthless cloners are getting faster. One of the most innovative mechs we’ve seen this year has just had its clone announced. The 4Nine by Tarsius is the next original to fall victim. The original can be difficult, but not impossible to find in stock at $170, this clone is hitting the market at 1/3 the price. With such a minimalistic mod, I sure hope it includes all the parts.
Lemur engraving and 18650 extension included!
This is still an early stage preorder. I wasn’t expecting to see this for at least a couple more months. I predict this release might be big enough to topple the Stingray clone from the top of wish lists when it becomes available. I hope it extends in variety to have all the options available that can now be found for the Nemesis and the Stingray clones.
I have a soft spot for seamless extension tubes.
In case you are not familiar with this mod, it is the most compact mod to date. This is made possible by the innovative “top cap.” The top cap is hardly a 510 connector. It is a threaded disc that will allow the 510 connector of the atomizer to pass right through to the battery. This means this mod heavily favors atomizers with adjustable 510 pins. Having less connections means less voltage drop, or at least it should. I also love recessed buttons, but hate big size. This mod has you covered there as well with a grooved tube that has a neat magnetic switch tucked inside. That means there is no worry about mod wobble, or firing while upright, and smooth reliable button action. I am pumped to see how this mod does.
At one point 14500 mods were discussed regularly. They seem to have been buried by all the hype for DNA30’s and 26650 mods lately. Well this might bring them back into the spotlight. For the vaper who favors a thin 14mm pen-like atomizer there is the Kayfun 2.1 clone. The original Kayfun 2.1 has been around for some time, but the high price and lack of availability has driven the RBA into obscurity. I’ve seen some vendors even list the 2.1 as discontinued, so a clone might be the only way to get one.
For those Ego addicts and 14500 fans.
This mod has a lot of parts. You get 3 tank tank sections and two chimneys for adjustable capacity. In regular mode this atomizer holds roughly 3ml and up to 5ml in extended mode. The signature Kayfun building deck lies inside this slender RBA. The construction is very much like a slimmed down Kayfun 3.1. The knurling on the top cap is a nice touch, sometimes it can be a little tough to open the top of my Kayfuns, especially once I get some juice on my hands. This RBA also uses a standard drip tip, so your collection will not go to waste.
Standard mode without the window. For those capacity psychics.
There are two different vendors listing this atomizer so far. The less expensive option is $26.99 from a new up and coming Chinese site and lists Ivogo as the maker. The alternative is roughly $30 and comes from a US shop with the maker Tobeco. Both should ship at about the same time.
Here is what people are waiting for, a 28mm atomizer to go with their new 26650 mods. HCigar is beating the other manufacturers to the shelves and has their own branded atomizer which very closely resembles an Igo-W3 on the inside. Lately HCigar has been branding their own products, like the Hana clones so they might be trying to distinguish themselves from all the other clone makers out there.
Looks kind of like the Omega atomizer
Here is a nice building space for a quad coil set up. It is unclear if this atomizer has drilled out posts or is made for wrapping coils under the Phillips head screws. One thing is for sure, that is a massive juice well. Considering the added width to this atomizer, that looks like it can hold a lot of drops. There are 2 very large air holes in the base and 3 in the top cap for air flow control. This atomizer is a true all day cloud machine.
Now if only there was a brushed version of the Hades clones…
This is probably what is the first of many. I would love to see some bigger versions of the Kayfun or Aqua, but this definitely is a good start. I know there was a 28mm Russian photo leak, but there hasn’t been much news since then, hopefully Kebo beats the cloners to making one.
I know there’s already a ton of Kayfun Lite clones out there, but this is an improved Kayfun Lite Plus similar to the black model I posted last week. Of all the clones made so far, this is the most promising. As stated before this all all the improvements of the Kayfun Lite Plus, over the original Kayfun Lite, as well as a small twist from Eh Pro to increase the air flow. There are also multiple finishes to choose from to match up with a variety of mods.
The whole line up to match any 22mm mod out there.
The newest addition to the line up is the Rose edition. With all the copper mods out there, this one is sure to be a hit. The Kayfun Lite Plus is considered by many to be the best rebuildable tank atomizer out there and this is a very good price on one.
Here is what the vendor is saying about it:
Diameter is 22mm
Capacity is around 4ml
Connection is 510 thread
Height with drip tip is 74mm
Height without drip tip is 52mm
One set including: 1 x silica wick
1 x kanthal wire
1 x mini screw driver
2 x transparent tank(long one and shorter one)
1 x ss with golden color atomizer (golden kayfun lite plus)
4 x large o-rings
2 x small o-rings
1 x gift box
weight for one set is around 170g
the air holes is 2.0mm
I would expect this to ship sooner than other preorders, the expected ship date from China is today so the status may change soon.
I guess I’ll resort to posting the same mod multiple times in a day. Although this isn’t listed as a Hana Modz clone, it really is another. At least now we have all kinds of fun colors to make 30 watts of vapor more fun and stylish. I’ve never really cared for box mods, but I guess having 6 colors to choose from (so far) makes switching from tube mods to box mods a little easier. I know this won’t be the last time I list a box DNA mod clone, but I’m pretty sure eventually I’ll break down and buy one.
Well at least it won’t get lost in my forest of brass and stainless mods
This version has no crooked logos. No logo at all. So far there are two makers listed so far, HCigar and Cloupor who are each providing their own renditions. I’m sure the rest of the army of cloners will follow suit and sell their own variation soon enough. This model is the 18650 version. It appears to be a 1:1 replica of the one I listed earlier.
The colors appear to be a slightly different shade in these photos
Here is what the site is saying about them:
Full sized Aluminum body
Custom milled display screen with a flush fit to the outside of the box
Fits 18650 batteries (not included)
Flush 510 connector
Flush dome style Fire Button
7 – 30 watts
4 – 8.3 volts
0.4 – 3.0Ω Atomizer Resistance
On-board USB charging @500mA
LED shows Red while charging and Green when fully charged
Not so fast, these mods have a 15 business day processing time. For many vapers out there the DNA20 will provide plenty of power and a very satisfying vape. I say this because there are also DNA30 Hana Modz clones on the market from US shops that can be had for under $80 now. This is another exciting time in the clone world since the DNA board bubble is about to burst and a whole new set of manufacturers are going to be watching their backs worrying about a clone arriving at 1/4 the price. I expect we will soon see more DNA20, and DNA30 replicas rolling around, but the tube mods might be a little ways off.
If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck…
Here we have the two different varieties of the Hana Modz DNA20 clone, in all your favorite colors, as long as your favorite color is black. The above image is the Mini, you can tell because of the size of the atomizer well relative to the rest of the mod. The Mini costs roughly $10 more, but for that $10 you get a 1500mah battery installed into the mod. This makes the mod a great candidate for beginner vapers out there. There is a built in 500mah micro usb charging port, so a new vaper would just need to get themselves some juice and an atomizer and they will be fully outfitted. My preference leans towards the regular sized version which is equipped to handle an 18650 battery. I strongly suggest using something like the Sony VTC5 for a long charge time and safe discharge rate. It would be a nice convenience to be able to charge the battery in the mod, or swap it for a another fully charged one when I need.
Real mods have curves! This is the 18650 version
Cloning a mod makes typically high end features available to the non-enthusiast. On the first round of production the manufacturers go for 1:1 replicas of the originals. Having a 1:1 replica can have its benefits, but down the line I’m sure there will be modified versions. I say this because I’d prefer if the mod had a magnetic battery cover as opposed to Phillips head screws to simplify battery replacement. I also don’t think it would kill them to throw in a silver-plated floating 510 pin. Either way this is a bargain for what is being offered. I know some users out there are going to hold out for a DNA30 version to accompany their sub ohm vaping, but this mod is perfectly capable for the majority of vapers out there.
Can we get an alignment on the logo here?
Here is the exceptionally verbose blurb from the site (18650 version):
It is a DNA20 controlled battery pack with a 510 connector. Variable watt battery pack that lets you control wattage not voltage, for better consistency and repeatability. Built using quality components. The body is made of 6061 Billet Aluminum. Power regulated digital switch-mode DC-DC converter. It features a small OLED display, buttons and synchronous rectification for maximum battery life and minimal heat generation. The separate UP and DOWN buttons allow the user to increase or decrease the power level in .1 Watt increments. Built in DNA charger, which is Micro-USB powered and provides a 500 milliamp charge current
1500mah Lithium Polymer battery pack included
Warning: Charge port must be free of any liquid or debris before plugging in the micro USB charge cord. Serious damage can occur if charge area is not free of debris
Normal Operation Watt Setting: The power level currently set on the DNA 20
Battery indicator: The current state of charge of the battery
Volts display: The current or most recent output voltage being supplied to the atomizer
Ohms display: The resistance of the atomizer attached to the device. This is measured only when the unit is supplying power to the atomizer. At other times, it shows the most recent measurement
Locked mode: Pressing the fire button five times with less than .7 seconds between presses will cause the device to enter “Locked mode”. In Locked mode, the device will not fire and the output power will not adjust accidentally. While in Locked mode, the screen will be off, except that pressing a button will show “Locked, click 5X”. To exit Locked mode, press the fire button 5 times
Stealth mode: While locked, pressing the fire and down buttons simultaneously for five seconds will switch to stealth mode. In this mode the display is off. It will still show error messages and the “Locked, Click 5X” advisory. To switch back to normal display mode, from locked mode hold down the fire and down buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds. This setting is stored to internal flash memory, and remains if power is removed
Right Mode and Left Mode: While locked, holding the fire and up buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds flips the display. This setting is stored to internal flash memory, and remains if power is removed
Error Messages: The DNA 20 will indicate a variety of error states
Check Atomizer: The DNA does not detect an atomizer, or the atomizer has shorted out
Shorted: The atomizer or wiring are short circuited
Check Battery: The battery is below 3.1 volts. It probably needs to be charged
Weak Battery: The battery sags excessively when firing. This typically means the user is not using a high rate battery, or the battery is old and degraded. It can also mean the battery is not making good contact
Too Hot: The DNA 20D has onboard temperature sensing. It will shut down and display this message if the internal board temperature becomes excessive
Too low power setting: The DNA 20D puts out a minimum of 4 volts. With low power settings (7 to 8 watts) and low resistance atomizers (below 2 ohms) the DNA will sometimes be unable to provide a low enough power output to be power regulating. If this is the case, the Ohms display will be flashing. The device will still operate.
Auto power down: The screen will be at full brightness while firing. After 15 seconds with no button presses, the screen will dim. 4 minutes after the last button press, the screen will fade out and the device will go to sleep mode. Pressing any button will turn the device and display back on
