The Stingray Clone in Stainless Steel $31.10

This might as well be labeled as a repost, but new versions of the Stingray clone are becoming available. Even though I have the option I’m not going to cancel my brass version just yet. It has recently become rather clear that the clones of the Stingray are not yet 1:1 due to the finishes on the tubes. That also implies that they are definitely not using the “Phantom Brass” of the original. Now the cloners have gone ahead and created a new version of the mod with a stainless steel brushed finish and even have included a drip tip.

Still a nice combo with any atomizer

Still a nice combo with any atomizer

Personally I don’t mind the brushed finish on most mods, the forums would digress. I do like to polish most of my mods, so eventually mine will shed its laser engraving and end up looking just like a Nemesis. All the other parts of this mod are just about the same as the brass version besides the obvious. The general consensus is that Infinite made this version and that is based on the box it comes in. I must add that I do really like the drip tip, I went ahead and ordered a few for myself already.

The brass looks a little dull, but you never really see the 510 or bottom of the button.

The Trident V2 RDA Clone $14.99

I know some people out there are waiting for the Chinese vendors to pick up the Trident V2 Clone, but how much cheaper can it get? I constantly mention my love for the Trident atomizer. I’ve loved the clone since I’ve started dripping and in my opinion it is the easiest atomizer to coil hands down. The slotted posts are awesome for dual or quad coils and really help mounting the coils without mutating them.

The logo might have been designed by someone's teenage child.

The logo might have been designed by someone’s teenage child.

There are some subtle changes between the V2 and the V1 of the Trident RDA. The drip tip is an easy place to start the discussion, but it’s very easy to disregard. The logo reminds me a bit of the Toys R Us logo. On the bright side, the airflow controller has been completely reworked. Originally the air holes were in the bottom half of the atomizer, and to adjust it you would have to spin the outer shell without anywhere to really grip the atomizer. Now the air flow control is a simple little ring resting between the base and threaded top.

The deck is the same but the foundation is all new

The deck is the same but the foundation is all new

Let’s be honest here, the Trident is not the prettiest RDA out there. There’s a few mods out there that truly line up all the horizontal lines in a nice package. At this point I should mention that the Panzer clone has come out and I think they make a nice pair. As per usual 101Vape does not have much to say about this atomizer as far as specs, but it looks inline with the previous releases. The 510 pin is copper, and the rest looks to be stainless steel. I can’t spot any semblance of chromed brass in this atomizer so the rest looks to be standard. I don’t know why I don’t have one of these yet, maybe because I still use my V1 and can’t find a new flavor to try.

The Stingray Mechanical Mod Clone $30.90

This will make a lot of people happy. The newest clone that will be sweeping across stores will be the Stingray. After needing the holiday weekend off I am psyched to come back to this deal. I recently made a post about the Stingray clone at a slightly higher price, but here it comes again, but is this one different?

The price has dropped, but has the mod changed?

The price has dropped, but has the mod changed?

The general layout looks very similar to the original. There is the signature crown at the top cap to allow air flow to the atomizer. There is the slotted button with its adjustable magnetic switch. There is the distinguished bronze on steel stylings. This mod looks beautiful.

All the pieces are there

All the pieces are there

There are some noticeable differences between this clone and the clone, as well as the original to take note. Now this is based on the stated specs from the sites, but this version does not list the exclusive “Phantom Brass” found on the original. This will actually make the patina fans very happy. This version will be shipping with brushed brass. The width of this version is listed as 22mm, the previous version from Whitestag was listed at 22.6mm so we may be dealing with 2 different versions here. They do appear to be very similar otherwise.

The Sony VTC4 $5.94 Each

This might be the greatest bargain I’ve posted yet. The top of the line battery just became available for under $6 apiece. I’ve said enough about these batteries so far, but I don’t think I can really say enough about these batteries. Hands down they are the best battery I’ve bought so far and now they are cheaper than most batteries, just buy them if you can deal with the delayed shipping.

I ordered a spare half dozen when I saw this.

I ordered a spare half dozen when I saw this.

I haven’t had a single problem with my Sony vtc4’s yet, and I’ve been using them nonstop for weeks. The difference between these and the VTC3 1600mah is very noticeable. Since I’ve upgraded I’ve had to change my batteries almost half as often. I don’t run my batteries dry, but when I notice a voltage drop I simply just swap my batteries. These hold an excellent charge and deliver a nice 30a continuous discharge. I’ve already ordered 4 of them and the shipping date keeps jumping, so I’d get them while you can.

The Storm A RDA Preorder $27.99, Possible Origen v2 clone

Right on the heels of the Origen V2 preorder announcement The Storm A is announced. This certainly is not a 1:1 clone, but the differences may just be aesthetics. The Origen RDA has been in very high demand since its release and is highly regarded among the crazed RDA fans. Even the original can be difficult to find, but this may just be the opening of the flood gates for its clone.

Details are foggy so far

Details are foggy so far

The name is a little strange, The Storm A. I don’t know why it wasn’t just listed as an Origen clone. Now this replica looks a little rough around the edges compared to the original. I refer to this as a V2 clone due to the appearance of the short stature and because the center pin is stainless steel. With those similarities considered, there are some changes as well. The center post is not completely threaded like the Origen, it also looks like the coil hole might sit lower in the chamber. I also don’t see any insulator separating the post from the dish. The finish on the Storm also appears to be a uniform brushed steel as opposed to the brushed/polished Origen v2. Probably the most noticeable difference is the juice wells. I am unsure whether these are unified like the Origen V2’s but in this RDA they are ovular and are not curved like “the original.”

Not the same, but still looks great

Not the same, but still looks great

This is a very significant release in the RDA market. Until now we were getting fed countless clones of the more simple designed RDA’s with the standard designs. Now the cloners are beginning  to release much more sophisticated designs like the 3d and this Origen giving the vapers a chance to own some semblance of the $100+ RDAs. I’m sure more details will become available soon.

This preorder is expected to ship around mid-March. Get yours here: http://www.venerablevaping.com/Storm-A-RDA-22mm-Stainless-Steel_p_368.html

Turtle Ship Mod Clones! Four To Choose From at $22-24

I know some people get sick of hearing about great deals from Fasttech, I don’t. Today Fasttech has made a splash with 4 slightly different varieties of Turtle Ship (Geobukseon) clones on their site. This is almost $10 cheaper than the recent listings of this mod, but they are all a bit different. There are two different versions available, each in stainless steel or brass. They are all very similar, and just about identical in aesthetics, besides the engraving on the button, so what’s the difference between the V1 and the V2?

Here's the V1 in ss

Here’s the V1 in ss

The V1 of the clone has a lot in common with the recent Caravela clones that have been on Fasttech. The pins are silver plated bronze for a nice connection just like the caravela as well. The 510 pin appears to be reverse threaded and nicely settled in delrin insulation. The locking ring is reverse threaded as well.

Many changes for something so similar

Many changes for something so similar

The V2 has a similar look, but completely different guts than the V1. Here there are two fat brass contacts each equipped with its own insulator. The V2 features a floating 510 brass pin as opposed to the adjustable version in the V1. The button on the V2 has three battery vents and the distinct adjustable insulator for a snug battery fit. Lastly the V2 does not have a reverse threaded locking switch, which is kind of a downer.

Here is what Fasttech says about the V1:

  • Stainless steel construction (brushed)
  • Top cap with air-channels cut
  • Adjustable 510 center pin
  • Silver plated brass contacts
  • Unique serial number
  • Laser etched logo and patterns
  • Spring-loaded firing switch
  • Reverse threaded locking ring
  • Houses single 18350/18500/18650 battery (batteries sold separately)

The Stingray Mod Clone Preorder $37.00

This is actually more of a prebuy than a preorder. There is a MOQ (Minimum Order Quantity) set, but I have no doubt that it will be reached at this price. The original Stingray was made by JD Tech in the Philippines. Now it has been recast in China and it still looks beautiful.

This mod makes an impression

This mod makes an impression

The Stingray really has a design is like no other. Sometimes I look around at the mods available and wonder why everyone keeps making the same old bottom firing tube mods and then something like this comes along. There’s  a reason the original is sold out everywhere. This mod has an excellent combination of functionality and subtle accents. Even the logo on this mod looks great.

Dual extension tubes for 18350-18650 batteries.

Dual extension tubes for 18350-18650 batteries.

The details have not been confirmed but based on the photos and current availability I am going to assume this is the Tobeco version. They have had this mod listed on their page for a few weeks now. I’ve seen the clone at other places online for over $70, and it sounds like a 1:1 clone. The top cap has a floating 510 connector. The stainless steel ring is molded to provide air flow for atomizers that require it. The brass is listed as “Phantom Brass” which will give the mod a bright, low maintenance shine. I wonder if the clone will use standard polished brass instead. The switch has some excellent innovation to its design which reminds me of the Nemesis with its insulated magnetic switch. The Stingray incorporates battery vents, and mounted magnets to improve on the reliable design. The contacts are all silver plated copper or brass for optimal performance. Everything sounds great with this clone and I’m real excited to compare it to the Nemesis clone.

I will post more details as they become available. Expected release date is 2/28 Get your prebuy here:  http://www.whitestagvapor.com/stingray-clone/
