The Hana Mod Clone 18650 Version $56

I think this is the final form of the Hana clone. There have been minis, DNA20 versions, but now the clone hunters will get their DNA30 version. The main difference between this version and the previous ones to reach the Chinese suppliers is the interchangeable 18650 battery. A lot of vapers such as myself prefer to use their arsenal of batteries rather than being forced to use a built in pack. There are many reasons for this. The battery packs might have questionable compositions which have a possibility of being dangerous. Even though this version has an 18650 installed already, you can pop open the mod and use your own battery. Being able to swap the battery is also nice in a pinch if you don’t have time to charge a 2000mah battery at 500mah.

It shows 30 watts! Hopefully that battery can take it.

It shows 30 watts! Hopefully that battery can take it.

I’ve already gone over this mod like a broken record. They are all pretty much the same with differences to the battery, the size, and the color. The DNA30 chip regulates the output by voltage or wattage and ensures a consistent battery output at any charge level. The initial response from the new owners of these Chinese Hana clones have been great. Sure there have been a few issues with some of the mods, but the majority have been well received. When considering the defective models people have received, just consider the amount of these being sold. There are probably thousands of these mods already shipped out so I don’t think they are doing too bad.

The packaging rivals many snack foods.

Hana Modz DNA 30 Mini Clone $56

Here is another Hana DNA 30 clone out of china. Good thing this is listed overseas, because Hana has been striking back against the U.S. shops with lawsuits. This is the mini version of the Hana box mod and I’d assume we are going to see more varieties very soon. To date Fasttech has only carried the DNA 20, but for only a few bucks more you can now get the DNA 30 version. This clone has had a lot of buzz surrounding it lately and so far I’ve only heard good things about all the versions.

If you have a DNA 30 any pictures have to be taken at 30 watts.

If you have a DNA 30 any pictures have to be taken at 30 watts.

It isn’t easy being green. Maybe soon we’ll have Kayfuns and RDA’s in all colors. This mod features dual 600mah battery packs built in. There is a common mirco USB charging port for charging. I still can’t get over the fact the Evolv DNA 30 board and charger alone will cost you more than this complete mod. The DNA 30 boards used in these mods boast the same specs as the original. The early adopters have been reporting the performance is indistinguishable from the genuine Hana. The dimensions line up with the original with a small amount of variance, maybe this one is a hair bigger, but it lists as just a few millimeters bigger than the original.

The Hana Modz are the premiere variable wattage box mods available. They have all the options you could wish for. The designs are as compact as they can be. These clones might become my new “go to” recommendation for new vapers. Even sub ohmers will be mildly pleased with these mods which have the ability to fire down to .05 ohms, which is right around my ideal vape. I would still be careful testing the limits of the batteries in these mods, just because the chip allows 30 watts, doesn’t mean the battery is equipped to handle it. I love the recessed 510 connector, this allows for even the most difficult of atomizers to lie nice and flush below the top of the mod. This is sure to be another hit, and I’m looking forward to what varieties we will see in the near future.

Hana DNA20 Mini and 18650 Clones! $62.25 and $52.00

Not so fast, these mods have a 15 business day processing time. For many vapers out there the DNA20 will provide plenty of power and a very satisfying vape. I say this because there are also DNA30 Hana Modz clones on the market from US shops that can be had for under $80 now. This is another exciting time in the clone world since the DNA board bubble is about to burst and a whole new set of manufacturers are going to be watching their backs worrying about a clone arriving at 1/4 the price. I expect we will soon see more DNA20, and DNA30 replicas rolling around, but the tube mods might be a little ways off.

If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck...

If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck…

Here we have the two different varieties of the Hana Modz DNA20 clone, in all your favorite colors, as long as your favorite color is black. The above image is the Mini, you can tell because of the size of the atomizer well relative to the rest of the mod. The Mini costs roughly $10 more, but for that $10 you get a 1500mah battery installed into the mod. This makes the mod a great candidate for beginner vapers out there. There is a built in 500mah micro usb charging port, so a new vaper would just need to get themselves some juice and an atomizer and they will be fully outfitted. My preference leans towards the regular sized version which is equipped to handle an 18650 battery. I strongly suggest using something like the Sony VTC5 for a long charge time and safe discharge rate. It would be a nice convenience to be able to charge the battery in the mod, or swap it for a another fully charged one when I need.

Real mods have curves! This is the 18650 version

Real mods have curves! This is the 18650 version

Cloning a mod makes typically high end features available to the non-enthusiast. On the first round of production the manufacturers go for 1:1 replicas of the originals. Having a 1:1 replica can have its benefits, but down the line I’m sure there will be modified versions. I say this because I’d prefer if the mod had a magnetic battery cover as opposed to Phillips head screws to simplify battery replacement. I also don’t think it would kill them to throw in a silver-plated floating 510 pin. Either way this is a bargain for what is being offered. I know some users out there are going to hold out for a DNA30 version to accompany their sub ohm vaping, but this mod is perfectly capable for the majority of vapers out there.

Can we get an alignment on the logo here?

Here is the exceptionally verbose blurb from the site (18650 version):

  • It is a DNA20 controlled battery pack with a 510 connector. Variable watt battery pack that lets you control wattage not voltage, for better consistency and repeatability. Built using quality components. The body is made of 6061 Billet Aluminum. Power regulated digital switch-mode DC-DC converter. It features a small OLED display, buttons and synchronous rectification for maximum battery life and minimal heat generation. The separate UP and DOWN buttons allow the user to increase or decrease the power level in .1 Watt increments. Built in DNA charger, which is Micro-USB powered and provides a 500 milliamp charge current
  • 1500mah Lithium Polymer battery pack included
  • Warning: Charge port must be free of any liquid or debris before plugging in the micro USB charge cord. Serious damage can occur if charge area is not free of debris
User guide:
  • Normal Operation Watt Setting: The power level currently set on the DNA 20
  • Battery indicator: The current state of charge of the battery
  • Volts display: The current or most recent output voltage being supplied to the atomizer
  • Ohms display: The resistance of the atomizer attached to the device. This is measured only when the unit is supplying power to the atomizer. At other times, it shows the most recent measurement
Other modes:
  • Locked mode: Pressing the fire button five times with less than .7 seconds between presses will cause the device to enter “Locked mode”. In Locked mode, the device will not fire and the output power will not adjust accidentally. While in Locked mode, the screen will be off, except that pressing a button will show “Locked, click 5X”. To exit Locked mode, press the fire button 5 times
  • Stealth mode: While locked, pressing the fire and down buttons simultaneously for five seconds will switch to stealth mode. In this mode the display is off. It will still show error messages and the “Locked, Click 5X” advisory. To switch back to normal display mode, from locked mode hold down the fire and down buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds. This setting is stored to internal flash memory, and remains if power is removed
  • Right Mode and Left Mode: While locked, holding the fire and up buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds flips the display. This setting is stored to internal flash memory, and remains if power is removed
  • Error Messages: The DNA 20 will indicate a variety of error states
  • Check Atomizer: The DNA does not detect an atomizer, or the atomizer has shorted out
  • Shorted: The atomizer or wiring are short circuited
  • Check Battery: The battery is below 3.1 volts. It probably needs to be charged
  • Weak Battery: The battery sags excessively when firing. This typically means the user is not using a high rate battery, or the battery is old and degraded. It can also mean the battery is not making good contact
  • Too Hot: The DNA 20D has onboard temperature sensing. It will shut down and display this message if the internal board temperature becomes excessive
  • Too low power setting: The DNA 20D puts out a minimum of 4 volts. With low power settings (7 to 8 watts) and low resistance atomizers (below 2 ohms) the DNA will sometimes be unable to provide a low enough power output to be power regulating. If this is the case, the Ohms display will be flashing. The device will still operate.
  • Auto power down: The screen will be at full brightness while firing. After 15 seconds with no button presses, the screen will dim. 4 minutes after the last button press, the screen will fade out and the device will go to sleep mode. Pressing any button will turn the device and display back on

Hana V3 Preorder $249, V3 Mini Preorder Same Price

With all the recent buzz about the DNA30 chips being released everyone has been wondering when and where they can get one in a mod. A few lucky people got ZNA mods, but there are also a lot of fans that have been waiting for a new Hana. The Hana Mod has been around for a while and the new updated V3 will be churning out variable wattage up to 30 watts.

They sure are a colorful bunch

They sure are a colorful bunch

I don’t feature many box mods on my site, but when they’re this noteworthy they can’t be ignored. The Hana v3 takes a 18650 battery and gives it quite some flexibility. There is a built in DNA charging board with a micro USB port for charging. Otherwise it is pretty simple in its features which would be standard across the board for most DNA30 devices.

The more classic colors

The more classic colors

The alternative would be to pay $30 and get a ZNA which some vapers might prefer, if they could get one. I see it as the Hana being the mod you can beat on, and the ZNA would get polished and shined regularly. Some of the users who managed to already snag a DNA30 mod have complained about the battery life. I think this might be more of an issue with the Hana Mini which has a built in 1200mah battery. Usually when I think of a box mod I think of it as an all day vape, and I know I wouldn’t make it on 1200mah. The new 2500mah 18650’s might help with the regular Hana.

I wonder a bit about the specs listed from Hana Modz, Evolv states in their datasheet that the DNA30 has a minimum atomizer resistance of .5 Ohms, Hana Modz lists it at .3.

Here is what they say about it:

DNA30 Specs:                          Minimum               Typical                        Max

Output Power                            7 Watts                                                   30 Watts

The KSD E-Huge $70.00, In Stock

This mod has made a bit of a buzz lately. People have been waiting for more 26650 mods to hit the market and here is the first variable voltage model. It’s hard to discuss this mod without first looking at the pictures, they really speak for themselves.

The E-huge with it's extender for dual 26650 batteries

The E-huge with it’s extender for dual 26650 batteries

I can’t decide whether or not this mod is practical. Some would consider a mod that can equip dual 3000mah batteries to be a nice convenience, that can last all day. Others would consider this to be a blunt weapon that can double as a walking cane. Whatever your stance may be, this mod is bringing new options to the market, which is great.

Does the storage case have wheels?

Does the storage case have wheels?

I actually have bought a KSD mod before and it did leave a slightly sour taste in my mouth. At least this new model has dual buttons for simpler menu navigation. The Variable Wattage can fire up to 15w which is rather disappointing considering the power. This mod is capable of firing atomizers down to 1.5 ohms which can be slightly restrictive to RBA users. If you are considering picking up one of these mods make sure to get some 26650 batteries and a capable charger. This model does not include the dual battery extension tube, so make sure to pick one up if you want to use this mod in all its glory.

Here is what the site says about it:

  • 3V to 6V
  • 3W to 15W
  • Resistance checker
  • Voltage checker
  • Ego/510 connection
  • Single/Dual mode
  • Stainless steel
  • 26650 battery size

The TA-EW Nebulizer, The Mod Of The Future

It’s power is only exceeded by it’s mystery. There are very foggy details coming for a new type of vaporizer. If the information being posted is accurate, it will make all mods obsolete.

I'm not sure what I'm looking at here.

I’m not sure what I’m looking at here.

This mod is being designed in Germany, and they have stifled my researching by keeping the details all in German. I have only found a few mentions of this mod from German forums and am relying on Google Translate to help me.

This mod is stated to have so many new concepts that I don’t know where to start, or what is real for that matter. I’ve read that it uses no wick, and relies on a vacuum system to load the juice from a 10ml cartridge into the evaporation chamber. That’s right the future is coming. Here are some more “details” that may or may not be correct:

  • Powered by a 26650 battery
  • 55 watt output
  • Touch sensitive curved OLED display
  • The screen can display; battery%, liquid level, condition of the heating coil, and wattage
  • Made of stainless steel, aluminum and carbon
  • Made in Germany
  • Expected to be released in the second half of 2014

Some new Info: (Thanks Sheen!)
– 140€ for the aluminum version
– 180€ for the stainless steel version
– 600€ for the carbonfiber version (limited to 100). something with carbon fiber nano tubes. dont know
– it will be build by a german car manufacture but the company name is secret because the patents and trademarks arent save

If anyone has more information about this mod, I am highly interested. I’m trying to keep this as an open discussion for the mod.
